PUBG Weapon Tier List: Best Guns for Every Situation in 2026

A comprehensive breakdown of every weapon class in PUBG, ranked by effectiveness. Learn which guns to prioritize and which to skip.

How We Rank Weapons

Our tier list evaluates each weapon based on four criteria: damage per second (DPS), recoil controllability, versatility across engagement ranges, and attachment dependency. A weapon that performs well only with a full suite of rare attachments scores lower than one that is effective out of the box.

We divide weapons into S-tier (best in class), A-tier (strong and reliable), B-tier (situationally useful), and C-tier (avoid if alternatives exist). These rankings reflect the current live-server balance patch as of May 2026.

Assault Rifles — The Core of Your Loadout

The M416 remains the most versatile assault rifle in PUBG. With a compensator, vertical grip, and a 3x or 6x scope, it can handle everything from close-range sprays to 200-meter tap-fires. Its recoil pattern is predictable and learnable, making it the top recommendation for all skill levels (S-tier).

The Beryl M762 is the highest-DPS assault rifle in the game, but its aggressive recoil pattern demands strong mouse control. If you can handle it, the Beryl will win more 1v1 spray-downs than any other AR. It is the weapon of choice for most competitive players (S-tier for skilled players, A-tier otherwise).

The AKM deals heavy damage per bullet (49 per hit) and is excellent for single-tap engagements at range. Its full-auto recoil is punishing, so treat it as a tap-fire rifle beyond 30 meters. The SCAR-L is the most stable AR but has lower DPS, making it a solid B-tier choice for players who prioritize accuracy over raw power.

The G36C (Vikendi exclusive) and the QBZ (Sanhok exclusive) are map-specific alternatives that perform at A-tier within their respective ecosystems.

Sniper Rifles & DMRs

The AWM is the undisputed king — a crate-only bolt-action sniper that can one-shot a Level 3 helmet. If you find one, take it. The Kar98k is the best non-crate sniper, capable of one-shotting Level 2 helmets. Pair it with an 8x scope and you have a lethal long-range tool (S-tier).

Among DMRs, the Mini-14 offers the fastest bullet velocity and lowest recoil, making it excellent for consistent ranged poke damage (A-tier). The SLR hits harder per shot but kicks significantly more. The SKS sits between them and benefits enormously from a cheek pad attachment.

The M24, once crate-only, is now a world spawn and functions as a slightly better Kar98k with faster bullet velocity. Both are S-tier snipers that can swing an entire match with one well-placed headshot.

SMGs, Shotguns & Sidearms

SMGs have a clear niche: early-game dominance and building-clearing. The Vector (now called the UMP45's faster cousin) shreds at close range with its absurd fire rate, and the UMP45 is remarkably stable with almost zero recoil — making it viable even into mid-game. Both are A-tier for their intended purpose.

Shotguns are high-risk, high-reward. The S12K (semi-auto) is the most forgiving, while the DBS (crate-only double-barrel) is devastatingly powerful in close quarters. Shotguns fall off hard past 15 meters, so they are B-tier overall but S-tier in specific scenarios like early hot-drop fights.

Sidearms are a last resort. The P18C (full-auto Glock) and the Skorpion are the only pistols worth using. Replace them as soon as you find any primary weapon.

Attachment Priority Guide

Attachments transform mediocre weapons into powerhouses. Prioritize them in this order: scope (you need to see your target), muzzle attachment (compensator > flash hider > suppressor for ARs), grip (vertical grip for full-auto spray, half-grip for DMRs), and magazine (extended quickdraw is the gold standard).

A compensator reduces recoil by roughly 25%, which is the single largest impact any attachment has on weapon performance. A vertical foregrip further reduces vertical recoil — stacking both on an M416 turns it into a laser. For snipers, the suppressor is more valuable than the compensator because concealing your position after firing is critical when you need 3-4 seconds to cycle the bolt.
